Digital Switching
MPower
Scalable DC digital switching over NMEA 2000.
MPower is a scalable DC digital switching system built around keypads, switch modules and displays that communicate over NMEA 2000. It replaces conventional wiring with intelligent, configurable control, so loads are switched and monitored through the network rather than through individual hard-wired runs.
MPower's specialty is digital switching. In a conventional installation, every switch needs its own cable run back to its load, and changing the layout means changing the wiring. MPower instead places switch modules close to the loads and connects them, the keypads and the displays over a single NMEA 2000 backbone. Control is defined in configuration rather than copper, which reduces cable mass, simplifies fault-finding and lets the same hardware serve different functions across vessels.
The product range covers the three elements an installer needs to build a complete system: keypads for operator input, switch modules to drive the DC loads, and displays for status and control. Because everything shares the NMEA 2000 network, the system scales from a modest leisure layout to a larger commercial fit-out by adding modules rather than re-engineering the harness. Keypad legends and behaviour are configurable, so a single panel design can be adapted to each application.
For a Southern African boatbuilder, dealer or installer, MPower suits projects where wiring complexity, weight and serviceability matter. PowerSol carries the keypads, switch modules and displays locally and supports the marine trade specifying them, which shortens lead times and keeps technical support within the region.
Why specify MPower
- NMEA 2000 native: keypads, switch modules and displays share a standard marine network backbone, so MPower integrates with the same infrastructure used across modern instrumentation.
- Scalable by design: add switch modules and keypads to grow a system rather than re-wiring it, which suits everything from leisure craft to larger commercial fit-outs.
- Configurable control: keypad functions and behaviour are defined in software, so one hardware layout can be adapted across vessels and revised without rewiring.
- Locally supported: PowerSol stocks and supports the MPower range in Southern Africa for the marine trade, keeping availability and technical support close to the project.
MPower — FAQs
What does MPower replace in a conventional DC installation?
It replaces point-to-point switch wiring. Instead of running a dedicated cable from each switch to its load, switch modules sit near the loads and communicate with keypads and displays over a single NMEA 2000 backbone, with control defined in configuration.
Will MPower work with my existing NMEA 2000 network?
MPower communicates over NMEA 2000, the standard marine network used by much modern instrumentation. Confirm backbone capacity, power and device limits for your specific layout with PowerSol when planning the installation.
Is MPower suitable for both leisure and commercial vessels?
Yes. The system is designed to scale, so the same keypads, switch modules and displays serve both leisure-marine and commercial-marine projects, with capacity added by fitting more modules rather than redesigning the wiring.
